Engaging in the art of self-compassion is the practice of honoring yourself through kindness and gratitude for your life and the ripple effect it creates within your life. This gentle and loving awareness begins to create changes in every facet of your life from your health, relationships, work, finances. Connecting with your authentic self which is known as your true self or the loving core within you creates a state of consciousness. Tapping into your true self allows you to release the distortions of the mind and judgments of the past that make us feel bad about ourselves.
When we operate and live our lives from a place of fear, we limit our opportunities for personal growth. The fear restrains and constricts us from connecting to our authentic self and hinders our ability to reach our fullest potential. To bypass living from a place of fear, we want to operate from a place of faith and self-love. As we make this transformation from fear to faith, you tap into the awareness of yourself. This illuminates who we are at the core and who we are becoming.
To access our real or true self, practicing compassion is a key ingredient. As we practice self-compassion we come to terms with who we are but accepting all of who you are without judgment, pain, shame or guilt. The practice entails accepting you, right now, strengths and flaws. It takes tremendous courage to stand in front of a mirror and look into your self and see your weaknesses, strengths and fears.
Through self-reflection and honesty, we are able to know the truth, speak the truth and feel the truth of one’s heart. Coming in touch with your authentic self requires a deeper analysis of your actions, motivations, thoughts and feelings. It also entails looking more deeply at what has kept you at an impasse, imprisoned and restrained in a life that is not fulfilling and based on the ideas, assumptions and experiences of others’ expectations of you.
Listening to your intuition is to hear intently what your higher self is needing. Practicing self-compassion and awareness allows personal growth to unfold to create whole-hearted and joyful living. It creates a life of meaning and purpose. When you reconnect to your true self, you reclaim your personal power and you have the ability to make life what you want it to be. Elments inherent in personal growth are healing, forgiveness, releasing beliefs and feelings that do not serve or honor you and re-programming your mind toward self-acceptance, compassion and self-love. When we are able to give ourselves the gift of compassion, then we are able to extend it to others. Having faith in ourselves and working from that template versus one that is entrenched in fear allows us to enjoy the journey of life that includes the joys we more easily embrace and constructively deal with the turbulence that we cannot escape.
